Rescue 6 Helps out at Giant

Thursday, May 22, 2014   When the alarms went off, Rescue 6 arrived on scene at the Giant Food Store on Bridgetown Pike. A fire had started in the ceiling of the electrical room and filled the room with smoke. Rescue 6 picked up the fire hydrant and supplied the water needed to extinguish the fire. The damage appeared to be contained to the electrical room, but Giant had to remain closed do to a power outage. 



Spring is here - Be Safe

      Finally spring is here. The snow is gone and the flowers are in bloom. While all this is great and the weather is getting warmer, we all need to think about safety. It has been raining a LOT lately, and this has caused our creeks to rise to high levels over and over. This has moved objects underwater into new locations. Rescue in Fox Hollow

Sunday, April 27, 2014 16:09  Late in the afternoon, the Members of the LSFD were called into action for a Resident in distress. It appears that he was walking close to the dam in the center of the Fox Hollow Drive and slipped. The Fire Department was called into service because the Resident could not make it back up the steep bank next to the dam. The LSFD used ropes and a Stokes basket to pull him up to safety. Boat Fire in Lower Southampton Township

Sunday, April 27, 2014 08:22  In the early morning hours, the members of the Lower Southampton Fire Department were called into action to assist the Feasterville Fire Department with an odd call. Yes, there was a boat fire in the township! Both the Rescue and Engine were called into service to supply water to the Engine that Station 1 was using to fight the blaze. The fire is still under investigation and there are no reports of anyone getting injured. In the end it appears that the boat will be a total loss. 



One Busy Weekend

Saturday, April 12, 2014   The Fire Fighters of the LSFD had a very busy weekend. Starting at 4:43 in the morning on Saturday they started out with a fire alarm at the Arbors at Buck Run that ended up being a false alarm. This was followed up by a cover assignment at Station 73, then a wires call where a tree fell on the wires on Wheatsheaf lane. SUV drives into house

Wednesday, April 2, 2014   The members of the LSFD responded to an emergency call for a building collapse. Upon arrival they discovered an SUV that had left the road and driven through a portion of the dining room and almost through the garage. The driver was still in the vehicle and the Fire Fighters had to use the hydraulic spreaders (Jaws of Life) to open the door so the driver could be removed. Training for the future

Sunday, March 16, 2014   Five Members of the LSFD attended Truck Company Operations I over the past 2 days in order to prepare for the arrival of the Departments next apparatus. This training included the proper setup of ladders for operations during an emergency such as a building on fire, different search and rescue techniques for victims in a building, using different tools to perform tasks that will make it easier to control a fire, and more. Saturday, March 15, 2014   The Officers and Members of the LSFD would like to thank everyone that came to our Beef and Beer to support our station. We believe that everyone had a great time and there were many door prizes, and raffle baskets that were won this evening. Congratulations to all of our winners! Car fire at Leaps N Bounders

Thursday, March 13, 2014   The members of the Lower Southampton Fire Department responded to a call for a car on fire at 20:33 on Thursday night. Upon arriving on scene, the vehicle was showing fire from under the hood. The crew of the Marine unit used a dry chemical fire extinguisher to keep the fire under some control till the Engine arrived on scene. Upon arrival the Engine crew opened the hood and extinguished the fire. Thankfully no one was injured in this incident and the fire was kept in the engine compart... [ more ]



A Sad Day

Sunday, March 9, 2014   It was a sad day in Lower Southampton today when a young man decided to take his own life through chemical suicide. This method has become popular because of the ease of finding the instructions, and has been widespread by the media through incidents like this one. The Members of the LSFD were called into action to keep others safe in the early hours of the morning. A smell of rotten eggs was noticed by a neighbor who did the right thing and dialed 911.
