Lower Southampton's Rescue 6 was dispatched to assist Trevose Fire Company with an accident that occurred along the railroad tracks north of the Trevose train station. Apparently, a young man was operating an ATV along the railroad tracks and collided with a Septa train. Fortunately for the rider, his injuries appeared to be non-life threatening. Because of the limited access to the accident scene firefighters and paramedics carefully loaded the patient onto a Septa train, and transported him to the Trevose Train Station where he was then loaded into an ambulance.
Accidents along the rails are unfortunately quite common. Fire companies across the nation respond to railway accidents on regular basis. Many times these incidents are tragedies. According to The Federal Railroad Administration, over 500 deaths and countless injuries occur on the tracks each year.
The LSFD urges you to keep away from railroad property and to warn your children about the dangers of playing near railways.
