Company HISTORY
Lower Southampton Fire Department is rich in history, with both
heartache and splendor. Started in 1931 by a group of concerned citizens.
Little money was available nearly everything was donated by members and
their families and work on the firehouse was completed by the
firefighters themselves. During the passing years we grew extensively.
In 1960 the department split, creating the Trevose Heights Rescue
Squad.
On September 24, 1974 a fire alarm was sounded and reported to be
the Feasterville Fire Station. The fire turned out to be the Trevose
Heights Fire Station. The fire burned out of control for two hours,
requiring the assistance of 12 neighboring fire departments and rescue
squads. The evening of September 14, 1974 was marked by the return of
over 400 Volunteer Fire Fighters and Rescue Squad personnel, who enabled
us to erect a temporary station out of the remains of the old station.
Following the fire a new
station was erected, which remains our home to this day.
Lower Southampton Fire Department has remained an
entirely volunteer Department, proudly serving our community.
